About I Believe I Can Fly Series

To me, art is not just colors on canvas; it is the essence of life, a medium to express emotions, ideas, and stories. As an artist, I am inspired by the remarkable similarities between birds and humans. Just as we express ourselves through art, music, and language, birds communicate through intricate songs, vibrant plumage, and graceful dances.

This series aims to convey a myriad of emotions, from love to hope, through the lens of the avian world. In observing birds, I see reflections of our own emotions and experiences. Their songs echo the melodies of our hearts, their flight symbolizes freedom and exploration, and their nests represent the warmth and security of home.

Inspired by the beauty and freedom of birds in flight, I capture these sentiments in vivid colors and fluid strokes, inviting viewers to explore the depths of human emotion and aspiration. In many cultures, birds are messengers of hope as they adapt and thrive despite the challenges they face.

Like us, birds form bonds with their families and communities, supporting each other through life’s challenges and celebrating together in times of joy. They teach us about resilience, adaptation, and the importance of finding beauty in the simplest of things.

Birds, with their boundless ability to soar through the skies, represent the essence of freedom. Watching a bird take wing can evoke a sense of boundless possibility and inspire dreams of exploration.
Through my art, I aim to capture the essence of this shared experience, celebrating the connection between humans and birds and reminding us of our interconnectedness with the natural world.

Winner & the Fallen (2025) ~ acrylic on canvas ~ 80x80cm

Like the eagle, we can live with confidence and courage, soaring higher each time we face the wind. In this work, I used shades of gold, black, white, red, and pink to capture the eagle’s strength and spirit — colors that awaken a sense of power and inspire us to find our own courage.

Let There Be Love (2024) ~ acrylic on canvas ~ 80x80cm (collected)

On a sunny afternoon, I visited a beautiful place named “Green Tunnel” in Tainan, Taiwan, with my Taiwanese artist friends. I was so impressed by the amazing view as we took a boat tour around the natural mangrove. The reflections and colors of the mangrove were stunning, especially with the harmonious chorus of birds chirping and singing with their loved ones. I was inspired by the sight of two lovebirds leaning into each other, lost in their fantasy dreams.

Harmony (2023)~ acrylic on canvas ~ 70x70cm

As I watched the Singapore National Day Parade from home, I was captivated by the incredible sight of people from diverse backgrounds joyously celebrating together. The vibrant display of unity and diversity filled me with pride and hope for a harmonious future.
